America begins its final descent

too bad houses AREN’T for living in, but for speculating

Western governments are so concerned when this happens to them (at arguably a tiny scale) compared to the “interventions” they’ve supported around the world for almost one hundred years.

Rules for thee and not for me. Sure, Canada isn’t the CIA, but they’ve been right there with the US from Iran to Ukraine.

there’s also a YouTube live stream that lets you go back

YouTube has a "disable DVR" toggle that disables the seek bar. There is a workaround, but I'm not sure if there's one that work in-browser.

This UserJS worked for me with Violentmonkey - https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/485020-dvr-chan-force-enab...

What is the non-browser workaround? E.g., can streamlink do it?

Does it ? I can pause but I can't seem to go back. Clicking on the timeline does nothing. Clicking on the "live" indicator does nothing.

This isn't letting me drag back either.

Yeah, explicitly disabled. Corporate control freak behavior - that tracks.

Do you have any sources for these claims about China?

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/world/police-warn-families-...

Not exactly what you asked but here’s something tangentially related

Blocking an event memorializing a shameful part of China’s history? that’s not great, but that’s really not the same thing

>> By my calculation, and further verification, that's around 17 months of running costs.

so if you’d like Wikipedia to be around two years should you donate?

the leader of building earth-based datacenters lol

what are we even talking about

Writers of history or historical fiction often wonder how did average people in militaristic, fascist societies from the past view their society? I think it’s obvious from the present-day US: they were amused. They were entertained by it. Human suffering, a necessary feature of such cultures, is trivialized by draping the death machine behind the veneer of fun, exciting game!

Can confirm this guy is Swiss

Has arguably the best infrastructure and system in the world and will still find issue with it. A real Swiss hardly knows the horror show that is the rest of the non-Switzerland world.

yeah, fiber rollout is slow outside of the cities. It’s still better than 95% of the developed world. All perspective.

We also have great chocolate.

People endlessly complain that the SBB is 'always' late.

Like if you have a semi-important meeting in Zurich at 9am It's perfectly fine to take a train which arrives in Zurich at 8:53.

And in an unlikely scenario that the train is late, everyone will agree that it's a valid circumstance.

Assuming zero time to walk into office (just saying), one day they will start scheduling meetings at 8:53 because we all do get here at 8:53.

Better to arrive (a couple minutes) late than to leave one minute early.

This is very nice. When I use ffmpeg recently I usually ask an LLM first but it often takes a few tries to get the exact incantation right.

On a side note (I’m not a web developer), why would a command line tool like this be written and distributed using node.js? Seems like an unnecessary risk to use JavaScript for a basic (local) command line tool. Couldn’t this be written more simply in like Rust or something?
